Last week, we took a little trip to Nico’s home in Baden-Württemberg. Of course, we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to visit Nico’s former favorite pub in Stuttgart, Biddy Early’s.
Biddy Early’s Irish Pub in Stuttgart is centrally located and was fortunately open for us on a Monday. According to the website, Biddy Early’s is open every day from Monday to Sunday at different times.
Biddy Early’s Irish Pub initially looks very inconspicuous due to the small entrance between the stores. But as soon as you step down the stairs, the charm of the Irish pub immediately captures you. The walls are lavishly decorated with Irish memorabilia, such as signposts, tin signs, mirrors and posters. Once downstairs, you stand directly in front of the large, wood-paneled bar, where you can also take a seat. An oversized inflatable glass of Guinness floats above it and the wall clock is also adorned with the famous Guinness toucan. Very nice marketing gags from Guinness.

There are also many seating options. These include normal tables and benches, but also tables in the shape of barrels. The wooden paneling on the walls is often used to provide additional storage space for drinks, which creates an incredible amount of space, especially for larger events, e.g. St. Patrick’s Day.
The coat rack on the wall is also a great place to store jackets, so you can move around the pub relatively freely.
There is a small separate area for smokers, equipped with tables and chairs. Two pool tables and a dartboard provide further entertainment.
In general, Biddy Early’s was very well attended for a Monday evening. This is certainly also due to the fact that a different event is planned here every evening. On Mondays there’s the pub quiz, on Tuesdays there’s live sports, on Wednesdays karaoke and Thursdays open mic and at the weekend there’s live music and even more sport for those who can’t get enough.
Only the toilets in Biddy Early’s are in urgent need of a general overhaul. They were simply not clean, some doors were not lockable, broken or not even there. There is still a lot of room for improvement here.
Friendliness
As soon as we had chosen a table, the waiters arrived. Everyone was super friendly and attentive throughout the evening.

Monday evening is always pub quiz night at Biddy Early’s. Anyone can take part free of charge and be in with a chance of winning a bottle of whisky (1st place). During our visit, you could even register your team shortly before the start. This is unthinkable for Berlin pubs, where events are often fully booked months in advance. The game is played in English. The questions are a colorful mix of sports, politics and entertainment. Even though we decided not to take part, we really enjoyed guessing for ourselves that evening.
Drinks
Our first order was again the obligatory pint of Guinness (€ 6.30 for 0.5l). You’ll also find O’Hara’s Irish Pale Ale on the menu, which is very rare in Berlin pubs. Hop House and Kilkenny are also on tap here.
Although there was no Irish Flag Shot, there was the Baby Guinness Shot with Kahlua and Baileys, which simply goes so well with a pint of Guinness.

For cider lovers, there is Stowford Cider on tap and various types of Magners in bottles. You will also find mixed beer drinks such as Poor Mans Black Velvet, Black & Tan or Snakebite on the menu.
The menu in the pub did not have an overview of the whisky varieties available. However, you can find the whiskies on offer, including a description, on the online menu. The bartender can certainly make a recommendation here if required.
Food / Snacks
The food on offer at Biddy Early’s Irish Pub is unfortunately very limited. There are various toasties and small snacks such as potato chips and peanuts.
We had already indulged in a substantial meal beforehand, so we were perfectly prepared.
Conclusion
Biddy Early’s in Stuttgart is an authentic Irish pub with a cozy and detailed interior. Although the prices here are slightly higher compared to most Irish pubs in Berlin, they still don’t come close to the Irish pub in the Europa Center in Berlin. The highlight here is definitely the daily changing events, which always offer a new reason to stop by.
