We have to admit that the Double Inn could be a little more subjective. And unlike the other pubs, we’re not writing about a specific day we visited – but in general. After all, the Irish-Scottish pub has been our regular pub in Berlin for years. And for Nico in particular, who lives just around the corner, it has almost become a second living room.
Which could well be due to the extensive accompanying menu. In a very cozy atmosphere, the Double Inn offers all kinds of events such as whisky tastings, sports broadcasts, live concerts, New Year’s Eve celebrations – and of course pub quizzes – in addition to the regular pub business. The latter in particular, under the direction of SkOli O’Bolly, has become a well-attended and amusing institution with three events a month.
The Double Inn also has something to offer for private parties: In the basement is the “Guinness Lounge”, a separate room with its own bar for up to 25 people. And if there are a few more, the main area of the pub can also be hired by arrangement.
For us, the ambience of the Double Inn is definitely one of the most authentic in Berlin. The walls are decorated with flags, pennants, pictures, scarves… and many small rustic decorative elements make the Double Inn a place that always invites you to linger.
The Double Inn is somewhat hidden behind the cinema in the Spreehöfe near the Wilhelminenhofstrasse / Edisonstrasse streetcar junction. The premises are divided into several areas: The winter garden, where concerts are also held, and the main room with a billiard corner and darts as well as a “whiskey area” with leather armchairs in front of a fireplace. An outdoor area is also available in summer.
Unfortunately, the pub is currently only open from Thursday to Saturday (and on some Wednesdays for special events), but is usually quite busy as a neighborhood meeting place. Due to the very informal atmosphere, it is also very easy to strike up a conversation with other visitors, which contributes to the original pub character.

Friendliness
The team is always friendly and welcoming, happy to give recommendations – and not averse to a little chat. From time to time, the owners’ dog joins them and watches the goings-on with interest. (Edit: Unfortunately, the pub dog passed away at the beginning of 2025)
Drinks
The selection of drinks is extremely extensive. Of course, there are the pub must-haves Guinness and Kilkenny. But the Hop House 13 and Störtebeker beers are also on the menu – as are various mixed beer drinks such as our favorite “Poor Man’s Black Velvet” (Guinness & Cider).
The Double Inn is probably a little paradise for whisky lovers. The menu lists no less than 80 different types of whisky – Irish, Scottish and American. However, the range of Japanese whiskeys is also outstanding, something we have never seen anywhere else. By the way, Nico recommends the Nikkei Coffey Malt.

Food / Snacks
As extensive as the drinks menu is, the food on offer is unfortunately a little sparse. The Double Inn sees itself primarily as a place to sit, party and drink, so only toasts, potato chips and pretzel sticks are on offer. However, buffets can be booked for private parties. And a food truck is sometimes parked outside for events.
