Finnegan’s Irish Pub is located in the south of Berlin in the Steglitz district. We visit Finnegan’s on a Friday evening. As soon as we enter the pub, we are greeted warmly by the waitress and sit down at a free table. As there were already some tables with reservations, we would recommend larger groups to book in advance. It should always be possible to find a place for two or three people at the Finnegan’s.
The well-equipped and typically Irish bar is located right at the entrance. Here you can take a seat directly at the bar or make yourself comfortable at one of the many tables. There is even a separate smoking area at the very back.

Adjacent to the main room of the pub, there is even a small darts room with two dartboards. These are very popular on Friday evenings and only become free again at a later hour. This small room is very cozy and offers enough space for several players. Points can be recorded on small chalkboards. Please note that you are only allowed to play darts until midnight. Even though Finnegan’s is open until 3 a.m. at the weekend.
The toilets at the Finnegan’s are very clean and perfectly acceptable for an Irish pub. As there are at least two toilets for men and women, we never had to wait any longer.
Friendliness
The first thing we do when we arrive is order the obligatory Guinness and after just a few minutes we raise our glasses to a successful week. The service was very nice and attentive throughout the evening and made us feel very comfortable.
The atmosphere here was very relaxed for a Friday evening, not to be compared with the hot spots in Berlin Mitte or Charlottenburg. The crowd was also a little older than in other pubs. The fact that the televisions were not switched on contributed to the quiet atmosphere. The music was also playing in the background, so that we sometimes even wondered whether there was any music on at all. This didn’t bother us any more, as we were able to concentrate perfectly on our own conversation.

Finnegan’s Irish Pub also offers a pub quiz every Sunday, which is very popular. The dates are often fully booked weeks in advance. If you would like to take part, you should therefore inform yourself in good time.
Drinks
Typically for Irish pubs, there is Guinness on tap. They also serve the Newcastle Brown Ale that we love. Mixed beer drinks, such as Poor Man’s Black Velvet, can also be ordered here. When it comes to cider, you can choose between Strongbow and Bulmers.
Finnegan’s also offers beer tastings. Here you can try either 3 or 5 beers (+ 1 cider).
We felt so comfortable at Finnegan’s that we stayed until last call. At the end, we got a Baileys on the house and were able to make the long journey back home happy and satisfied.
Food / Snacks
As we had already read in the reviews before visiting the pub that the food at Finnegan’s Irish Pub was supposed to be so good, we naturally didn’t eat anything beforehand and arrived there already very hungry.
The selection on the menu is actually very good and includes changing daily specials, spare ribs and salads. The food is cooked on site in the kitchen and, according to the information provided, everything is prepared in-house.
As the spare ribs in particular were so highly praised in the reviews, Christiane, as a big spare ribs fan, absolutely had to order them. The spare ribs covered in sauce were really different to what we are used to, but the combination was very interesting. As it turned out, the sauce was also necessary, as the ribs were unfortunately a little dry and difficult to remove from the bones. The end of the ribs, on the other hand, was perfectly prepared and came off the bone almost by itself. That’s why we only gave the spare ribs half marks. For Christiane, they were definitely not the best ribs she has ever eaten.
Nico ordered one of the dishes of the day: the mussel soup. It was very tasty, but unfortunately only arrived lukewarm.
